Sure, many companies say they are using Generative AI technology. Below I'm noting ones that, based on publicly available information, seem to be genuinely leveraging LLMs as their core technology. This list ignores drug discovery space.
Hard to categorize
- GenHealth AI: Instead of text, their LLM is being trained on medical events data. Led by 1upHealth founder Ricky Sahu. $13M funding, Boston Based.
- RadMate: Rethinking radiologist's reporting workflow using LLMs. YC'24.
- Triomics: Oncology-specific model (OncoLLM) to assist with trials, clinical operations. $15M Series A. YC'21, General Catalyst.
- Centaur Labs: Data annotation platform, specifically for healthcare. $15M, Boston.
- SlingShot AI: Not much details but the mission of 'task-specific generative models for psychology' is intriguing. NY based. $30M seed. A16Z.
- Astrix Health: Suite of tools to evaluate safety and compliance of LLMs - specifically for healthcare.
Care pathway tuned Agents
- Hippocratic AI: Founded 2022 by an experienced team (Munjal Shah, CEO). Pitching a 'safety focused' LLM pre-trained on evidence-based data in healthcare. Raised $65M since May 2023 from General Catalyst, A16Z.
- Thrive AI Health: No website yet. Hyper-personalized AI health coach using Gen AI. $8M seed in July 2024 by OpenAI Startup Fund and Ariana Huffington's Thrive Global.
- Asclepius Health: Modernizing care management with clinically-informed conversations with patients over text and voice. Ex-Google founders.
- Sully.ai: Straight-up AI employees vision (ancillary/support staff like scribes, receptionist, pharmtech, etc). YC'21.
Operationally tuned Agents
- Assort Health: Gen AI agents for healthcare call centers, has EHR integrations. $3.5M raised. Tau Ventures.
- Laguna Health: Real-time conversational AI incorporating determinants of health. $20+M raised. Israel/US team.
- Elise AI: Started with conversational AI products for Housing industry in 2017. $140M+ raised. Series D. NYC based. Healthcare foray since 2023 for tasks like scheduling, non-clinical communication (mostly in outpatient setting).
- Penciled: Front-office assistant for scheduling. YC'24
- Tennr: LLM trained as 'document reasoning model' to do eligibility, authorizations, chart creation, referrals etc. A16Z $18M Series A.
- Infinitus: Automating provider's phone-based workflows with agents. Applications: eligibility, prior auth, follow-ups. $21M Series A with Kleiner, $30M Series B with GV.
- Notable: Auth, referral, scheduling use cases. San Mateo CA based. Seed round from Greylock. $100M Series B with Iconiq.

- Latent Health: Applying Gen AI to pharmacy ops (prior auth, 340B qualification. Sep'2024 seed round of $13M from General Catalyst and YC.

- Daffodil Health: LLM-powered claims repricing for payors. SF-based. $4.6M seed by Maverick.
- Anterior: Used to be called Co:Helm. Streamlining prior auth using Gen AI. $3M seed from Sequoia, then $20M Series A with NEA.
- Basys.ai: Prior Auth solution using Gen AI. $2.4M preseed from AMV, Mayo, Eli Lilly. ?Acquired?
- Humata: Prior Auth. $25M from LRVHealth, Optum, Highmark.
- Machinify: $12M Series A. GV, Battery Ventures. GenAI-driven healthcare ops in three areas: 1. Claim Audit, 2.Billing Review, 3. Prior Auth (this was sold to Evolent Health in June 2024!)
- Risa: Prior auth focused on oncology. Palo Alto. $3.5M seed.

- Ambience Healthcare: AI-Scribe solutions. $106M raised. A16Z, OpenAIFund, Kleiner, Anne Wojcicki, Jeff Dean, Martin Ventures, Optum Vntures. SF based.
- Nabla: Paris based. $44M, Series B. Notably has Yann LeCun as advisor.
- Abridge: GenAI for Clinical Documentation. Pittsburgh based. UPMC led Series A. $150M Series C with LightSpeed in Feb 2024. Total $207M funding.
- Pieces: Chart summarization, progress note drafting, billing aids). $61M. Series B. Texas-based.
- Navina: Summaries for chart review, risk adjustment, diagnostic decision support. $44M. Series B.
- HealthSage: Amsterdam-based. €3M Seed. Vision is to be a Gen AI 'platform'. Current application is LLM-based conversion of clinical note to FHIR.
- Tortus: $4.2M seed from Khosla ventures in Feb 2024
